I had this problem with a character I was designing: she had detacheable arms and she left them by her bed at night, but then, I couldn't work out how she was going to attach them again in the morning, so that story remains unfinished. Poor girl is probably still stuck there, unable to open her bedroom door.
On the membership thing, you could probably get lots of new people in if you opened up a big new section of Harry Potter 6 threads; everybody loves Harry Potter, right?
